Welcome to Ric Castro's portfolio of contemporary paintings. Works are primarily abstract in a more non-objective abstract expressionist mode but also include pieces from his abstract landscape series that the artist works on simultaneously.

Ric Castro is a highly accomplished artist and professor of art at the University of Guam where he imparts his vast knowledge and experience to aspiring artists. He was born in 1961 and raised on the beautiful island of Guam, where he developed a deep appreciation for the arts. He received his MFA and Four-Year Certificate in painting and printmaking from the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which is the first art school and museum in America. In addition, he holds a BFA from the Ivy League, University of Pennsylvania and a Specialized Technology degree in Visual Communication from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
 

Castro's artistic talent has been recognized with numerous awards, including a full scholarship to the Academy, which is a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication to his craft. Upon graduation, he was awarded a Ware Travel Award to Europe, which allowed him to further hone his skills and gain inspiration from the rich artistic heritage of the continent. He has exhibited his work both in the U.S. and abroad, showcasing his unique style and vision to audiences around the world. His pieces can be found in many private, corporate, and public collections, attesting to the enduring appeal of his art. Two large paintings of Castro's current work is on display at the Capital Modern; Hawaii State Museum in a curated show entitled "Our Sea of Islands" in Honolulu, Hawaii and will be up until December of 2024. 
 

Castro's has ran his own gallery in the Tumon Sands Plaza, Guam and one of his most recent commissions include a 40 ft. mural inside the new Payless Store in Maite, Guam, which is a testament to his versatility and ability to create art that resonates with people from all walks of life. One notable large solo exhibition of Castro's work was at the Luis Vuitton Regional store in Tumon, Guam. He has also created works for Guam Legislature Building, The Lotte Hotel and Resort, Great National Insurance, Island Chiropractic Clinic, Dr. Akua Private Clinic, Arriola Law Firm, Pacific Islands Club Hotel & Resort, and DFS Galleria among others. His art is a reflection of his passion for life and his deep connection to his cultural roots. Castro's latest exhibit includes his upcoming solo exhibition entitled, Surface Portals & Liquid Koi Dreams which features many new large scale works on canvas and will be showcased at the new CAHA Gallery in Hagatna, Guam December 6, 2024 to January 4, 2025.
